Smores White Russian

Could any cocktail be more fun than a sippable smore? This S’more White Russian is just as fun to make as it is delicious to sip!

I love White Russians and my goal in fusing this classic drink and campfire dessert was to make sure the s’more flavor came through so it didn’t get lost in the strong rich flavors of the White Russian. I also wanted to find a way to incorporate the s’more flavor using actual s’more ingredients instead of spending money and time trying to find a bunch of infused vodkas and liqueurs that simulated the flavor. If you’ve ever tried to hunt down marshmallow vodka for dessert cocktail recipes I know you feel me, lol. Not to mention, who wants a huge bottle of that stuff around anyway?

After some experimenting I’m thrilled with the results of this cocktail which delivers that great s’more flavor using very humble and inexpensive ingredients that you’d get for traditional s’mores: chocolate, graham crackers, and marshmallows! These ingredients,  plus a couple quick and easy tricks to infuse those flavors get the job done with all the fun of making traditional s’mores.

Fire up your torches and surprise your friends with this grown up sippable version of a classic childhood favorite guaranteed to leave everyone wanting S’more!

Makes: 2 servings
Time: 20 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 4 ounces vodka
  • 2 ounces Kahlua
  • 1 ounce graham cracker cream-see recipe below
  • 2 scoops marshmallow cream

Garnish:

  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips for rimming and drizzling the glasses=
  • 1/2 cup crushed cinnamon or regular graham cracker crumbs (you can also add a teaspoon of cinnamon sugar to the graham cracker crumbs to if you like)
  • 2-4 jumbo marshmallows to toast
  • 2 mini skewers

Graham Cracker Cream:

  • 1 cup heavy cream or half and half
  • 2 sheets of graham crackers, broken in pieces

Directions:

Make the graham cracker cream first so the graham crackers have time to soften while you make the rest of the drink: Place the graham cracker pieces in container with high sides that you can fit an immersion blender stick into. If you don’t have a handheld blender stick you can soak the mixture in a regular blender.

While the graham crackers are soaking, rim the glasses. Melt the chocolate chips in a bowl in the microwave on 20-30 second intervals, stirring in between until melted. Place the crushed graham crackers in another bowl, along with the teaspoon of cinnamon sugar, if using.

Dip the rim of each glass in the melted chocolate mixture swirling around to coat the edge thoroughly, then dip in the crushed graham cracker mixture. Use a small spoon to scoop up remaining chocolate and drizzle freely around the inside of the glasses. Set aside to allow the chocolate to harden while you make the drink mixture.

Blend softened graham crackers in the cream (they will dissolve easily and thoroughly without leaving chunks) and combine with the vodka and Kahlua. Add a couple generous spoonfuls of marshmallow cream and blend the mixture to completely dissolve the marshmallow cream. Pour into a cocktail shaker, shake it up thoroughly until nice and chilled and pour into glasses.

Last but not least, make the toasty marshmallow garnish! Place 1 or 2 jumbo marshmallows on skewers and toast using a kitchen torch or by placing under the broiler for a minute if you don’t have one. Place skewers on top of the glasses and serve!
